A data catalog is an organized inventory of all your company's information assets: tables, views, dashboards, KPIs, reports, and datasets. It allows anyone on the team to understand what data exists, what it means, who owns it, and how it is related.
Register a database connection from the admin panel. The system connects securely, reads available schemas, and shows you the tables and views you can import to the catalog with one click, including their columns and data types. Supported sources: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI, and Tableau. You can also import assets in bulk from Excel (.xlsx) or a dbt project manifest.
Free: up to 3 users and 30 assets. Starter: up to 10 users and 300 assets. Pro: up to 30 users and 5,000 assets. Business: unlimited users and assets. Each user has a role: Admin (manages everything), Editor (creates and edits assets), or Viewer (read-only). See full plan comparison →
Yes. Each company has its own isolated space. Database connection passwords are encrypted with Fernet symmetric encryption before being saved. The catalog only stores metadata — never the actual content of your databases.
For automatic metadata discovery: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, and Databricks. For BI catalog import: Power BI and Tableau. For file-based bulk import: Excel (.xlsx) and dbt (manifest.json). Any asset type (dashboards, KPIs, reports, datasets) can also be documented manually regardless of the source system.
Yes. The Metaustral Agent is a desktop application available on all plans. It runs inside your private network, connects to your local databases, and pushes only metadata to the cloud over HTTPS — your database is never exposed to the internet. Supported: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQLite. Each synced database counts as one connection toward your plan limit (Free: 1, Starter: 5, Pro: 25, Business: unlimited). Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. If you downgrade and have more assets than the new plan allows, existing ones are preserved but you won't be able to create new ones until you're within the limit.
Yes. The platform is fully available in Spanish and English. Support is offered in both languages.
